I need to be busy
I have many things I need to be doing. I need to be stocking up on supplies for my first venture into a brick and mortar shop starting July 1, I need to be knitting scarves for the fall fairs, and I need to be tending to my garden. What would you have found me doing this evening instead? Yes, watching Ghost Hunters. It's Wednesday, did you expect anything else?
I did package up a custom item tonight and worked on another (by working I mean communicated with the buyer about a few things), but that's about it. Before you judge me, the other custom item I didn't really work on tonight can't be worked on until some beads come in that were ordered especially for that, so there. It's just too hot in my studio to work and it's much cooler downstairs so it's hard to get up off of that couch.
This weekend will be different. I'll turn the upstairs AC on and get to work. I've got to get some stuff for the shop done and I've got to do it now. So send your good "hurry up and make stuff" vibes my way so I can get many, many things done and off of my plate by Sunday night.

15 Minutes of Fame
WHAT? My bracelet? Front page?
In a moment of disbelief, I found myself fumbling across the keyboard to make it to the Etsy front page. There it was - Desert Oasis sitting on the front page amongst some beautiful items in an incredible treasury. The treasury was created by Zygopsyche and can be found HERE.
It is amazing how many views my little bracelet received and how many "hearts" both my shop and the bracelet took away from this experience.
Of course, the front page is short lived and life goes back to normal once the next fabulous page of goodies goes up, but it was fun while it lasted. And in case you don't believe me, see below for yourself!

Things for a Gardener
I'm pretty sure I've mentioned this a few times, but gardening season has begun. I had started some seeds a few weeks ago and I've found it in myself to rake some pine needles away from what will be my herb garden, but that is where it ends for now. Other than planting the herbs
(I'll wait until it's a wee bit warmer) and the arugala (scheduled for tomorrow), I have nothing left to do but wait. The seeds will need to grow for a couple of weeks indoors before being ready to move outside to aclimate them to that environment.
In the meantime, I have plenty of garden type things to do indoors. I've been knitting up a few spring inspired wire bracelets and making some bright colored earrings. I've also been browsing Etsy for some delightful spring/garden inspired items that might
end up making it to my backyard before all is said an done.
The sky seems to be the limit when it comes to handmade for the garden. There are birdhouses from PapaPots, plant markers from ArtisanHands, flower pots and so much more. I have a feeling a lot of my gardening budget will be going to artists on Etsy this year.

A Bit of a Makeover
I took a plethora of pictures and took many minutes uploading all of them, editing them, cropping, etc etc etc, and finally, I had a batch I liked. Now to just load them up on to Etsy. I'm still working on that right now as that is the longest process.
Prior to my picture extravaganza this afternoon, I planted my pepper and tomato seeds. They will settle down in my dining room for a few more weeks until it's warm enough outside to start setting them out on the porch during daylight hours. I was a bit more picky and choosy with my seeds this year. Last year I have weird hopes of having more tomatoes than I could throw a shoe at. What that resulted in was, well, more tomato plants than I could throw a shoe at and not very many tomatoes because I couldn't keep up with the up keep. I'll do better about that this year. As soon as they start to sprout, I get some lovely pictures taken for all to see.
Off to finish the shop update and start on some yarn.

Happy Valentine's Day
I sent a bracelet and some earrings over to Denise - you can read about it at her blog. I was proud of my gifts to her and was extremely happy she was in love with them. During all of this time, I dreamed (yes, dreamed) about what I would get. We have so many talented and amazing crafters/artists among the group that any of the members would have been perfect. When I received my item in the mail, my expectations were surpassed. Rita, 0ver at Ms. Rita's Beads, had outdone herself. I received the most beautiful heart shaped, lamp work bead on an adjustable necklace. How did she know that I LOVE necklaces more than anything else? Even my Sweet was highly impressed, it's sometimes hard to do that. Go check out her shop - everything in there is lovely.
In other news, I've been given a blog award by the talented Dancing Mooney. She is a fellow blog rock star and Etsian with an adorable shop full of beautiful items. I would know, I own one. The rules of the blog award are quite simple and so I shall pass it along.* Post the award on your own blog.(Post who gave it to you)
* Indicate its original link and link to that site.
* Give the award to 5 other blogs that you enjoy, find creative and inspire you.
I shall award these lovely blogs on this Valentine's Day
Junque Rethunque - it's a Mother/Daughter team who both share a creative vision and clever blogging skills (and they are GREAT to spend the day with, I would know, it's my mom and sister)
And Now Ladies and Gentlemen - A fellow AREtsian who does some beautiful wire wrapped items. Her tree pendants are to die for. Her blog is a perfect read any time of day.
Casserole - she does a weekly word find thingy on her blog that won't dissapoint and she has some items in her shop that I coveted, until she sent me one (see felt brooch below)
Denise Felton - another one of my favorite blogs. She's fun to read and almost always leaves me chuckling a bit.
Julie Knits - one more AREtsian to round of my list of 5 AREtsians. She knits so of course I'm partial towards, her, but she always makes the cutest button rings for a kicker of a price.

"Me" Time
If you can't tell, that is a little red bird on that scarflette (it kind of looks like a fish).
Not Sure I Can Top That
I present to you a picture of my poor, neglected crafting table. With me on my death bed (or what I thought was my death bed) this week, I didn't feel up to jewerly making. I did get a fair amount of knitting done and plan on heading over to work on the finishing touches to a neck warmer in a minute, but those earrings and bracelets just didn't get the attention they have been getting. Scratch that, the poor bracelets have been ignored for a couple of weeks as the earrings have been hogging all of my attention. That will change, I have some bracelets I want to make... and some necklace ideas. Exciting things to come!
I spent most of this evening working on a wish list to give my sweet boy. I have my favorites on Etsy, my favorites on Amazon, and my favorites in my head. I suppose putting them on paper makes it easier but it also makes me become greedy and want EVERYTHING I see online. I tried to keep it to one, okay, two pages, but that was hard. *grins* I did tell him it could be spread out over a few years. It had CDs, DVDs, books, things for my kitchen, and the obligatory gift cards to a local yarn shop, Pay Pal (to feed the Etsy and Ebay addictions), some gardening gifties, and so on. I liked my list so much that I asked him to return the favor. I can throw that in my purse and be ready at all times for gift buying.
I'm off to finish my neck warmer.

Goodbye Old Friend
I'm not going to lie when I say I've been a bit discourage by my Etsy sales this month. I've had a trade and played along on the SNS Secrets thread last weekend, but not really any sales to sing about. I considered relisting a scarf yesterday. It had been almost a month since I relisted a scarf and thought perhaps that would be a fresh change from my earrings that I've been posting like crazy lately. I decided against it. I'd like my listing fees to go new product, not relistings.
So I spent the day doing some knitting and watching a lot of Rome. Late last night I logged on to discover not one, but two scarves sold. One was a scarf I never thought would walk off and the other was one I've sold 4 of before and is quite popular. I was ecstatic. It was just what I needed to remotivate myself into spending time on my shop.
Today I took advantage of my sunny window, took pictures, and posted a handful of earrings in my shop. I've finally got some of the ones I've talked about on here but had not posted until today. Go get them while you can!
In other news, AREtsy is getting together in Conway this weekend for a meet and greet. I wanted to go but just can't make it down there. Instead I'll do some participating in the SNS thread tomorrow evening. I'll have to think of a really good sale... any suggestions?

There Are Other Choices
However, with the introduction of my new earring line last week, I thought some in copper might be in order. I went to work today on
I will continue to post these in my Etsy shop, but all of these earrings have me looking forward to my next craft show. I have only had bracelets and scarves at the shows in the past. While those did well, I think if I had my earrings with me, I'd sell even more. People seem to be in the mood to buy earrings at those shows (as was evident at my first show this past September - my
These three pairs are the only thing I crafted this weekend. It is a bit less than I had planned on doing, but better than nothing. My sweet will be off at a concert tomorrow night, so I'll have some time to myself to get more earrings and a couple of bracelets finished. I just need one more day in the week!

The Unveiling
I read somewhere in the Etsy Storque that a good way to start the new year out in your shop is with a new line. I've been thinking about that ever since. Many questions have come from that. How can I incorporate my style into something new? Am I still new enough on Etsy that perhaps I need to stick to what I do? Should I do something completely different or not? Well, last night I bought some Scrabble tiles on Ebay as those seem to be an inexpensive supply that can be used any number of ways. But that's done on Etsy... a lot. I don't know if that is the route I want to go for my shop. I'll certainly take some pendants made from Scrabble tiles to the craft shows next year - I haven't seen them there yet. However, Scrabble tiles are not the direction I want to go with my new idea.
I saw down tonight to make some earrings and bracelets. I churned out the same old stuff - lovely stuff - but the same. After finishing another "I Love Olive - Hand Knit Bracelet", I thought I should make some earrings in sterling silver to match. But I didn't have the supplies to do my usual earrings in sterling. So I got creative and my new line was born. I made one pair in sterling and the rest with the regular stuff. I love them and cannot wait to get pictures of them taken and get them loaded up on my shop. I really think these will appeal to a different crowd than my current designs. Hopefully I'm not too far off with that statement.
Needless to say, all of this creating did not allow me time to work on a scarf I'm making for the Sweet Boy. I promised him I'd have it finished by the time he returned home from a trip on Monday evening. I've got to get to work on that.
I'll leave you with a teaser of my new line until I get them posted into my shop.

My Latest Purchase
My latest Etsy purchase was from a fellowing AREtsian and local NW Arkansas resident, Julie Rose. Her shop is JulieRose and she sells the most lovely wire wrapped rings. I purchased a silver colored beaded ring (because I'm a bit chicken when it comes to
In my crafting update, I've made 4 bracelets and for pairs of earrings this week but the sun has been playing shy and won't come out for photo lighting. I just need to break down and purchase a light box. I hope to have new items in my shop tomorrow night.

AREtsy
Christmas is just 20 days away but it's not too late to get some good, quality shopping finished. My favorite group of Etsy ladies makes up a street team lovingly called AREtsy (Arkansas Etsy for those who aren't in the know). It's an amazingly varied group of crafters/artists with all kinds of items in their Etsy shops. We're all open for Christmas so please, make a mug of tea, come in and browse... scratch that, shop for all of the Christmas gifts on your list:
